Cats Love to Hide

cat hidingAny cat owner can attest that cats absolutely love to hide. If you don’t believe it, try a little experiment the next time you get home from the grocery store. Empty your groceries onto the counter, and then put the empty paper bags on the floor. Especially if your cat is still relatively young and playful, it’s very likely that he’ll dash into the bag and bat at you or lunge out at you from inside the safety of that bag.

Knowing this characteristic about cats, make sure that your cat products are tailored to their personality. Particularly when it comes to cat beds, it is important that your feline have a sense of enclosure and security. Be sure that the bed affords them the opportunity to curl up in a corner or nook. Or, even better, get them a bed that actually allows them to crawl inside.

Many people consider their pets part of the family—and with good reason. Pets can live with us for several years and are always there to meet us after a long day. While you probably pamper your pet throughout the year, it can be fun to give them a special indulgence on their birthday. Here are a few suggestions:

~Pet Beds – fancy dog beds or luxury cat beds are sure to please your animal friends, providing comfort and warmth.

~Chews and Treats – these goodies are great for dogs or cats as a reprieve from their usual food regimen.

~Pet Apparel – though your cat won’t like wearing clothes, dogs love to keep warm and be the center of attention with a new sweater, dress, or t-shirt!

~Squeakies and Noise Makers – though they’ll probably drive you insane, your pet is sure to love a noisy toy to attract the attention of the whole household.

Getting Your Cat Interested in His Toys

Like every animal, it’s important that cats have a collection of toys at their disposal. Playing with your cat is not only a great way to get him exercise, but it’s also a fantastic way to bond with your kitten. But if your cat seems uninterested in all the toys that you bring home, it can be more than a little frustrating. Some cats, however, are simply put off by the toys that are brought home from the store, because their scent is not alluring.

If you want your cat to be more interested in a particular cat toy, try leaving it in his cat bed for a few days. It will pick up his own scent, and this might make him more inclined to play with the toy. But if that still doesn’t work, simply rub some catnip on the toy. Your cat won’t be able to resist it after that. And after playing with it for a day or so, your cat will very likely continue to do so. If he ever seems to lose interest, though, just rub a bit more catnip on the toy, and you’ll be good to go.
